5 months and 13 days after returning from our trip, we finally finished the video.
After coming back from our trip, I knew I wanted to make something. I knew it wasn’t going to be of great quality (we should have forked over the money for that damn GoPro), it would probably be choppy (because we are too cheap to purchase anything but iMovie) and the songs wouldn’t necessarily line up (but they would each distinctly remind us of each destination). I didn’t and still don’t care.
Making this compilation of 8 of the happiest months of my life that Dan and I spent together was more about having a way to make sense of it all. A way to wrap it up in the best way we possibly could. We worked so hard, sacrificed a lot, and had a hell of a time and I really wanted a morsel of something tangible to show for it.
Piecing together this cinematic masterpiece took a lot of effort on my part and Dan’s part. There were hours on Friday nights when we would have rather been zoning out to Netflix, nights after work when it was too hard to bear watching our past selves flitting freely around the world, and arguments on which pictures were worth making it into the final cut (Dan wanted that hideous bus picture in Colombia, not me!)
The video is 30 minutes long so consider yourself warned. But each picture, memory, song, and video that we included meant something special to us for one reason or another. Each part of this video showcases the story of us while living out our dream together.
Here’s to no more somedays:
This was the best thing to wake up to! Loved watching every minute and felt like I got to relive your trip. I was sad when it ended. MORRRE! I especially liked the part where Dan danced around in his skivvies to Macklemore. Proud of you guys for what you accomplished! So many unbelievable memories and I’m glad we got to share in a small part of it!
